Starting life in the mid 2010s as an emo-rock revival outfit, Amends soon recalibrated and expanded the project to incorporate a sound more focused on alt-country, heartland rock and folk-punk. From Amends' 2019 debut ‘So Far From Home’ to their 2021 sophomore album ‘Tales of Love, Loss and Outlaws’, 2023’s ‘Our Place Amongst The Dirt’ serves as the band's most realised efforts to date.
Receiving numerous accolades for their efforts, including top 20 Vinyl Aria charting, an Australian Music Prize nomination for Best Album and charting top 10 in the Australian Independent Radio Charts, Amends continue to push their captivating sound to new heights. Performing extensively, including supporting Memphis rockers Lucero, Pennsylvania punks The Menzingers, touring with Californian natives Spanish Love Songs, sharing the stage with Against Me! front women Laura Jane Grace, curating their own mini-festival “Best In The West”, selling out their record launch shows and touring both nationally and Internationally, the Western Sydney band have turned their attention to the next chapter, with plans to take their endearing brand of story-telling to places yet to be explored by the group
A decade since its inception, Amends are nigh-on unrecognisable from their origins. They now stand as sharper, stronger, and far more ambitious than the band they used to be. Their drive, musical creativity and rambunctious live sets demonstrates as such, leading by example and solidifying their status as one of Australian music’s most unique and compelling prospects.
